September 27 - World Tourism Day

World Tourism Day was founded by the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization in 1979 in the Spanish city of Torremolino. The Decree of the President of Ukraine of September 21, 1998 established that on September 27, Ukraine will annually celebrate the Day of Tourism. The purpose of the holiday is to promote tourism, highlight its contribution to the economy of the world community, and develop ties between the peoples of different countries.

The holiday of tourism is celebrated not only by people whose lifestyle is associated with travel and backpacks. A tourist is a person who strives for knowledge. This day can celebrate everyone who loves to travel, learn new things, expand their worldview. In order to travel, you can even not leave the borders of your hometown, because Mykolaiv has its own wonderful tourist facilities.

Mykolaiv Zoo is known as a tourist pearl of Ukraine and a place where you can immerse yourself in the world of nature and beauty. Our zoo is an oasis of wildlife in the city center. The diversity of flora and fauna presented on the territory of the zoo does not cease to amaze visitors.

For 120 years of its existence, the zoo has collected a large collection of wild animals, and the arboretum has a collection of unique plants from around the world. Some trees in the park are already 40 years old, even on hot days they create a special climate. Compositions of coniferous plants, an alley of blue-coniferous spruces, huge plane trees, birch groves – this all is not only beautiful, many of the plants emit healing volatiles, which are good for health.

Every year, visitors who come to us are sure to find changes: new landscape compositions are created in the park, new animal enclosures are built, visual aids and decoration are updated, and new art objects appear.

Come to the zoo to experience the beauty of nature and celebrate the wonderful holiday of World Tourism Day. After all, Mykolaiv Zoo is a pride and a visiting card of our city!
