Fennec fox

Fennec fox (Lat. Vulpes zerda) is a miniature fox that lives in the deserts of North Africa. Fennecs are animals record-breakers. They are the smallest members of the canine family, and the fennec fox is smaller than domestic cat. The height of the animal is a little more than 20 cm, and it weighs only 1.5 kg.

Fennec fox ears are the largest among carnivorous in relation to the size of the head. They reach 15 cm in length and are needed for better cooling of the body in the heat of the day. Huge ears also allow the animal to catch the lightest rustle. Fennec foxes are carnivorous, reducing the number of small mammals, birds, reptiles, insects and other invertebrates found within their family territory, playing a role in regulating their numbers. This fox can do without water for a long time, receiving liquid from meat, berries and leaves.

In order for these animals from hot countries not to freeze in cool weather, they have infrared lamps installed in the enclosure, under which the foxes like to bask. But with the onset of cold fennec foxes will be moved indoors. So hurry to catch warm days to succeed to watch these cute creatures.
