Another exchange of animals between zoos of Ukraine

Today, April 4, another exchange of animals took place between zoos of Ukraine. The exchange was carried out in order to replenish the collection and create pairs of rare animals.

A young male guanaco (Lama guanicoe), born in 2023, as well as a pair of young African sacred ibises (Threskiornis aethiopicus) arrived from Rivne Zoo to Mykolaiv Zoo to join our females. Instead, two Steller's sea eagles (Haliaeetus pelagicus) will go to Rivne Zoo from Mykolaiv Zoo.

Three Reeves's pheasants (Syrmaticus reevesi), a pair of young red-crowned cranes (Grus japonensis) and a male caracal (Caracal caracal) arrived to our zoo from a private zoo located in Lviv region. A young caracal named Bobo, born in 2023, arrived as a pair to our female named Lilu. These animals were exchanged for young males of black-and-white ruffed lemurs (Varecia variegata) and kinkajou (Potos flavus).

After passing the quarantine and the adaptation period, the new animals will complete the exhibit of Mykolaiv Zoo, where you will be able to see them.
