Day of the Siberian tiger and Amur leopard

On the last Sunday of September, at the initiative of international environmental organizations, Day of the Siberian tiger and Amur leopard is celebrated. In 2021, this holiday falls on September 26. The purpose of this day is to tell people that leopards and tigers are not only a threat to livestock and even humans, not only a way to get rich quick through poaching, but also an extremely beautiful animal and an important part of the ecosystem.

This ecological holiday is most widely celebrated in the Primorsky Krai, where, in fact, these animals live. Mykolaiv Zoo also joins in celebration of Day of the Siberian tiger and Amur leopard; after all we not only keep these species of majestic and graceful carnivores, but also successfully breed them, making the contribution to preservation of these animals. It is no secret that the conservation of the species largely depends on the reproduction of rare animals in zoos.

We invite everyone to walk to our zoo for a thematic tour "Big cats of the Mykolaiv Zoo".
