International Polar Bear Day

International Polar Bear Day is celebrated annually on February 27. The celebration of the date began with the support of the organization Polar Bears International. The purpose of this day is to spread information about the catastrophic consequences of global warming, which affects the area of the Arctic ice sheet – the habitat of a wonderful representative of the animal world – the polar bear. If we do not urgently reduce the impact on the environment, which accelerates warming, polar bears may disappear from our planet. It is within everyone's power to use all resources more economically, rationally and ecologically, thus reducing the impact on the environment.

Breeding polar bears in zoos is one of the ways to preserve them. Mykolaiv Zoo is currently the only zoo in Ukraine that keeps these unique animals. On the occasion of International Polar Bear Day, our beautiful polar bears Zefirka and Smetanka received gifts: delicacies with frozen berries, juicy apples, and fish. You can see how the animals feasted in our video sketch on our YouTube channel.
