On December 8, Mykolaiv Zoo celebrates the birthday of polar bear Smetanka, who turns 4 years old.
Smetanka's parents are Nanuk and Zefirka. Smetanka's birth in our zoo was a great sensation, the event that was extremely important and bright, because polar bears had not been born in Mykolaiv Zoo for almost 50 years. It is really pride not only of Mykolaiv, Ukraine, but also of all zoos of the world as she is one of 5 polar bear cubs born in zoos of the planet in that period.
Time passed, Smetanka grew up, became a real beauty and a favorite animal of many visitors, who is specially visited.
