November 20 is Universal Children's Day, which is also the new Children's Day in Ukraine from 2025. This day is associated with the anniversaries of the adoption of the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Rights of the Child and is aimed at drawing attention to the well-being of children around the world.
Ukraine moved the date of Children's Day to November 20 to synchronize with the world and emphasize the international priority of protecting children's rights. The Declaration of the Rights of the Child proclaimed the equal rights of children in the field of upbringing, education, social security, physical and spiritual development regardless of skin color, nationality, social origin, property status and other things.
Russia's full-scale aggression has been going on for almost four years. Millions of Ukrainian children have been left homeless, without the opportunity to study, and ultimately, without access to medical services and even drinking water. Shelters have replaced children's rooms, subway benches – beds, and air raid sirens – school bells. Many children were killed or maimed. So mercilessly hostilities take away childhood from young Ukrainians.
We try to support children during the war, because it is the zoo that gives strength and peace to our little visitors.
And we must not forget that the children of animals also suffer from war. We worry about all children! We dream of peace! The war must stop so that every child can have the peaceful and happy childhood they deserve!
