Residents of Mykolaiv Zoo visited the children attending a summer camp

Summer is a time of bright emotions, new friendships, and relaxation. Today, some of the residents of Mykolaiv Zoo paid a visit to children attending a summer camp based at the Young Technicians Station.

The main purpose of such meetings is not only to entertain children, but also to introduce them to the amazing world of nature in an engaging and accessible way, teaching them responsibility and a caring attitude towards all living creatures. Under the guidance of the zoo educators, the boys and girls had a unique opportunity to learn interesting facts about the habits and personalities of each animal guest, touch and pet them, and take memorable photos.

Close interaction with the zoo's smaller residents helps children reduce stress and brings them sincere joy – something we all need so much these days. A gentle chinchilla, a friendly guinea pig, and a funny rabbit instantly attracted a crowd of eager children wanting to stroke their silky fur. Giant achatina snails aroused great interest and prompted numerous questions about how they grow and what they like to eat.

But the true “stars” of the event were the exotic Madagascar hissing cockroaches. The children listened with amazement as they learned about the insects' ability to hiss and eagerly observed these remarkable creatures up close. The bravest participants even had the chance to hold one of these unusual guests in the palm of their hand.

Sparkling eyes, countless questions, and genuine children's laughter proved once again how important such outreach events are. Mykolaiv Zoo continues to fulfil its important mission – step by step fostering environmental awareness and a love of nature in the next generation.

We sincerely thank the Young Technicians Station for their warm welcome and look forward to meeting again soon!
