April 15 is International Day of Environmental Knowledge

International Day of Environmental Knowledge is celebrated annually on April 15. The holiday was founded in 1992, when the UN Conference in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) stressed the importance of environmental education for citizens of all countries for the implementation of long-term plans for human development. Day of Environmental Knowledge has been celebrated since 1996 in Ukraine at the initiative of public environmental organizations.

The purpose of the holiday is to popularize ecological knowledge, to form ecological culture of the population, to provide information about the state of the environment, to bring up ecological thinking in children and adults.

Mykolaiv Zoo joins in celebration of this holiday. After all, one of the main functions of our zoo is environmental education, which should have a positive impact on people's worldview and turn education into the most important component of environmental activities.

In our zoo ecological-educational actions, ecological lectures are constantly carried out, a lot of ecological-educational content is created: videos of ecological character, articles. Young biologists of Mykolaiv Zoo actively take part in ecological actions. During such classes, children are happy to learn how to behave during outdoor recreation, learn about the fauna and flora of the zoo and the nature of their homeland.

Traveling through our park, you will be able not only to relax, but also to get acquainted with the information of ecological and educational content, which is located on the stands and labels. Labels are available both in animal enclosures and near plants.

Engraining of ecological culture in Mykolaiv Zoo today is a guarantee of life of future generations!
