On March 31, Rivne Zoo in cooperation with the Association of Zoos of Ukraine (hereinafter - AZU), held an online seminar on the topic: "New World primates of the Callitrichidae family. Aspects of keeping, breeding, veterinary care".
Employees of zoo departments, specialized specialists, zootechnicians, and veterinarians took part in the seminar.
The seminar was moderated by the deputy director Ira Oliferuk, and the director of Rivne Zoo Oleg Pavlyuk addressed the participants with a welcome speech.
The seminar consisted of two blocks.
The first concerned the maintenance of these primates, the second block was devoted to veterinary aspects.
For the first time, a foreign zoo took part in the online seminar of AZU. Ms. Uljana Kalazny (@Uljana Kalazny) talked about her experience of keeping primates in Lodz Zoo (ZOO Łódź), Poland.
The representatives of Mykolaiv Zoo, Cherkasy City Zoological Park "Roshen", BION Terrarium Center (Kyiv) shared their work experience.
The speeches of veterinary doctors: Andriy Marunchyn and Inna Vasylkovska were meaningful and useful.
It should be noted that this online seminar is already the second in a series of meetings initiated by AZU. The first – "Terrarium as an integral component of a modern zoo" took place in February. It was held jointly by BION Terrarium Center and Cherkasy City Zoological Park "Roshen".
Work has begun on a collection that will contain the reports presented at the seminar. The collection will be uploaded to the AZU website. Its materials will be available to everyone.
New seminars on interesting and relevant topics are planned.
