It has already become a good tradition to hold a family holiday event for our young naturalists called “Evenings at the Zoo”. We gathered in the young biologists’ room, which, thanks to a little magic, temporarily turned into a cozy hut with an improvised stove, embroidered towels, icons, and the aroma of fresh hay and pastries. The boys and girls came nicely dressed, in beautiful embroidered shirts. We lit candles so as not to depend on power outages. And we plunged into the world of ancient traditions – we told fortunes about our betrothed and about gifts for the coming year, learned how the boys got naughty on St. Andrew’s Day, bit “kalita”, and boasted about needlework, and young biologists also acted as actors and performed a fun matchmaking ceremony. And we also dreamed of a world without war, without worries, calm and peaceful!
We hope that such events will help our children and young people distract themselves from anxious thoughts and teach them to spend their leisure time in a cool way, using the experience and traditions of their country.
