Sending otters

In the framework of the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP), on the recommendation of the EEP Coordinator for the river otter (Lutra lutra) Elodie Rey, Mykolaiv zoo on March 4 sent two female otters to two zoos located in Switzerland. One otter is designated for the zoo of Goldau city (Natur- und Tierpark Goldau) and the other - for the zoo of Mannedorf city (Fischotter-Verein Männedorf).

The animals were transferred by air from Boryspil Airport to Zurich Airport, where they were met by a representative of Goldau zoo.

The animals have now arrived in Zurich and are waiting for the necessary paperwork to be completed so that they can familiarize themselves with their new home.

We are very grateful to our Swiss colleagues for their cooperation. We are confident that our otters will feel very good at a new place, and we hope that our international cooperation will help to preserve this interesting, but unfortunately in many places in Europe, rare species.
