On April 28, 2026, a solemn gathering of the team was held on the occasion of the anniversary

On April 28, 2026, a ceremonial gathering of the staff took place in the zoo’s conference hall to mark the anniversary. 125 years ago, the history of Mykolaiv Zoo began – an institution that has become a true decoration and pride of our city, its business card and a tourist highlight of the region.

The staff of the institution were congratulated by Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council Anton Tabunshchyk, Deputy Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Yuri Hranaturov, Head of the Office of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Mykolaiv Jakob Torrild Hansen, Head of the Department of Culture, Nationalities and Religions of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Olena Buberenko, Secretary of the Mykolaiv City Council Dmytro Falko, Head of the Department for Culture and Cultural Heritage Protection of the Mykolaiv City Council Yuri Liubarov, and Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Committee of the Trade Union of Cultural Workers Yevhen Bezukh.

The zoo’s best employees received honorary awards, certificates, and gifts. The staff was honored with a Commendation from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, while employees were awarded certificates and letters of appreciation from the regional council, the regional military administration, the city council, and the trade union. In addition, staff members who have devoted many years of their lives to the zoo were awarded the commemorative badge “Star of Mykolaiv Zoo” for their significant contribution to environmental protection and conservation, preservation of national cultural heritage, fostering respect for nature among younger generations, and on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the zoo’s founding.

A true highlight of the celebration was the vibrant performances by our guests: young performers from the children’s vocal studio “Golden Voice”; young Mykolaiv star and songwriter, winner of numerous city and national competitions, and participant in the national selection for Junior Eurovision 2025, Olivia Tkachyk; Honored Variety Artist of Ukraine Ivan Nosyk; and well-known Mykolaiv singer Nataliia Kovalova.

We sincerely congratulate the staff of Mykolaiv Zoo on this remarkable anniversary! We wish the institution continued prosperity, enrichment of its collection with rare species, and inexhaustible energy in preserving wildlife. We hope that our “island of living nature” will continue to remain a source of pride for the city, bringing joy to every visitor. We wish everyone good health, strong spirit, and resilience!
