On January 24, the People's Artist of Ukraine, sculptor, associate professor, professor and teacher Yuri Makushyn celebrates his 90th birthday.
The talented sculptor Yuri Makushyn is the author of most of the monuments and memorial plaques in Mykolaiv and the Mykolaiv region. The master's entire family (wife Inna and son Viktor) are outstanding sculptors. They are a vivid example of unity and inspired work. In joint cooperation, the Makushyn family has created many interesting works.
Mykolaiv Zoo is proud of two works by the outstanding master.
In 1978, the sculpture "Mowgli and Bagheera" was installed on the square in front of the zoo, which became our emblem and means the unity of man and nature. This work was created in collaboration with his wife Inna Makushyna.
On September 9, 2001, the grand opening of the new square and monument to the founder of the zoo, M.P. Leontovych, the authors of which were Inna, Yuri and Viktor Makushyny.
