Today we held a traditional event dedicated to World Turtle Day. Everyone who wanted was able to get acquainted with the interesting representatives of our turtle collection, learn interesting facts about these amazing animals. Attention was paid to the issues of turtle protection, the issues of caring for them. We paid special attention to the European pond turtle – a species of the fauna of Ukraine. The children learned where such turtles live, what they eat, and what to do if you find a turtle in nature. The audience also saw other interesting species, including a little steppe tortoise born in Mykolaiv Zoo. And then there was a demonstrative feeding of turtles with delicacies prepared for them by young biologists of the zoo: fresh vegetables and fruits, green dandelion leaves, acacia flowers, young tree sprouts.
