In October, chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes), which live in Mykolaiv Zoo, celebrate their birthday: Chilina and Sherman.
October 17, 2020 is Chilina’s birthday, she turns 12 years old. And on October 20, 2020, Sherman celebrates his birthday, he is 4 years old.
Chilina and Sherman are brother and sister. They were born in Mykolaiv Zoo, their parents - female Aliti and male Zuli. Aliti is a responsible and caring mother, always looking after her children. For example, in the process of moving her relatives from one enclosure to another, she helps the zoo staff, makes sure that the children go to the right place in time.
By nature, our birthday animals are different. For example, Chilina is an active and very contact individual, she is jealous, a little cowardly and very fond of attention. She is also changeable in mood, and sometimes likes to be alone. In her family, she behaves freely. Chilina has a penchant for music and may even try to dance to the music in the mood (this is the observation that the zoo staff made).
Sherman is very active, copying his behavior from his sisters. He likes the zoo staff to scratch his back and ear in the morning when walking around. He often spends his leisure time with his middle sister Ramina, because she is closer to him in age.
Today, Chilina and Sherman celebrate their birthday in a family circle with grandmother Ambi, mother Aliti and sister Ramina.
The most favorite food in the chimpanzee family is sweet fruits: bananas, dates and figs.
Therefore, as a gift for birthdays and the whole family, young biologists of Mykolaiv Zoo created a holiday poster with greetings, wishes and sweet pictures and gifts with various delicacies (nuts, honey, hawthorn, zucchini seeds).
