Decorative during flowering due to the purple-pink flowers, which abundantly cover both the trunk and branches, even before the leaves bloom is the eastern redbud. This plant in our latitudes has such rare impressive quality.
Another name for the eastern redbud is "Judas tree". It is associated with its origin from the Eastern Mediterranean in connection with which in France the tree was called the "tree of Judaea". An alternative version claims that on the eastern redbud, and not on the aspen, as we believe, Judas hanged himself.
