February 27th is International Polar Bear Day.
With the support of the organization Polar Bears International, since 2014 the International Polar Bear Day has appeared in the environmental calendar. The purpose of the holiday is to spread information about these animals and draw public attention to the need to protect both the bears themselves and their natural habitat.
Mykolaiv Zoo is the only zoo in Ukraine that keeps polar bears. Traditionally, we hold educational events dedicated to these animals every year. Today we held an environmental and educational event with feeding polar bears, during which our guests had the opportunity not only to observe the interesting behavior of the animal, but also to learn many facts about the culprits of the holiday, take part in a quiz and find out what everyone can do to reduce the rate of global warming and to preserve these wonderful animals.
