The conclusion of mentor Douglas Richardson about the membership of Nikolaev zoo in EAZA
We are half a step to victory! Nikolaev zoo already reported earlier that on December 15-19, 2019, our mentor from EAZA Douglas Richardson (Scotland) made a visit to Nikolaev zoo. The purpose of the visit was the screening (verification) of Nikolaev zoo's fulfillment of the tasks that were set by the inspectors during the 2016 EAZA Screening. This was not the first visit of our mentor and we are pleased to inform everyone today that we received a copy of the report that was sent by Douglas Richardson to the EAZA office. In our opinion, this is a victory. The report, for the most part, shows positive reviews of recent changes in the zoo. Douglas recommends at the next annual conference of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria to consider the issue of returning full membership to Nikolaev zoo. I hope that most friends of Nikolaev zoo understand how important this is for the zoo, for the city and, in general, for Ukraine.
