“Zoo in today’s realities” dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Nikolaev Zoo
On September 15, 2021 in Mykolaiv Zoo the solemn opening of the conference "Zoo in today’s realities", devoted to the 120th anniversary of Mykolaiv Zoo, took place. 27 representatives of 15 zoos of Ukraine came to us. The purpose of the conference is to exchange experiences on the work of a modern zoo in today's conditions. Also, one of the main issues of the conference was the creation of a new community that unites zoos and other institutions that keep animals – Association of Zoos of Ukraine (AZU). The founders of this association were the directors of 9 zoos present at the conference. Organizations that keep animals and meet the approved requirements can join AZU as members.
Guests of honor arrived at our zoo on September 14. On this day they were offered a cognitive tour to Mykolaiv astronomical observatory, where our guests had a great opportunity to observe celestial bodies.
On the opening day of conference the mayor of Mykolaiv Oleksandr Syenkevych congratulated guests of honor. After the official greeting and exchange of gifts, the guests arrived at the zoo, where they held a meeting and discussed topical issues.
Also on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Mykolaiv Zoo the bright holiday took place for our visitors, employees of the zoo and participants of the conference. During the holiday our zoo received birthday gifts, including souvenirs, books and animals – our new residents, which you will soon be able to see in our exhibits.
Our old friends – Rhythms of the Planet Dance Theater and Mykolaiv Municipal Academic College – helped us to organize a wonderful holiday.
This is just the beginning of the planned festive events, and then it will be more interesting.
