Honorary professional date

April 14, 2021 Volodymyr Topchy celebrates the professional date - 43 years of work in the zoo. He is the director of Mykolaiv Zoo, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine, President of the Ukrainian Association of Zoos and Aquariums, member of the Board of Directors of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA), member of the International Union of Animal Welfare IUCN CBSG, winner of the Honorary Award "For Merits to Mykolaiv city", knight of the Order of St. Mykolay the Wonderworker of the III degree, winner of the International Prize named in honor of Henry Ford, winner of the prize of Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquariums named in honor of S. Kudryavtsev, citizen of the year 2001 in the nomination "Culture", deputy of Mykolaiv city council, he has medals for services to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Volodymyr Topchy came to Mykolaiv Zoo as a young naturalist in 1965. He has been working in the zoo since 1978. He worked as a guide, lecturer, research officer, head of the departments of primates and carnivorous animals. For 10 years he held the position of deputy director of zooveterinary. Since 2002 he has been working as the director of the zoo.
