Column "Flowering Calendar"

From afar it seems that the zoo is covered with white loose snow on this warm May day. In fact, it is a blossoming Vanhoutte spiraea. The plant is popularly called the "bride" for the lush inflorescences of snow-white flowers. And the name "spiraea" comes from the word "wreath", because in ancient times from the branches of the plant people made wreaths and garlands.

The most luxurious hedge of flowering spiraea can be seen at the entrance to the winter house of the primate department.
