World Giraffe Day is celebrated annually on June 21. This celebration was initiated in 2014 by the Giraffe Conservation Fund (GCF).
The purpose of the holiday is to draw the public's attention to the preservation of these unique animals.
The Giraffe Conservation Fund (GCF) is the only non-governmental organization in the world dedicated exclusively to the conservation of giraffes in the wild throughout Africa.
Today, giraffes are at great risk in their natural habitat. Over the past 15 years, their population has decreased by 40%. This is due to armed conflicts, the expansion of agricultural territories and the activities of poachers.
For the fourth year in a row, Mykolaiv Zoo is participating in this holiday.
Today, all visitors who visited the zoo were able to take part in various interactive activities. For the little guests, there was a complex of entertaining and educational activities in the form of competitions, exciting tasks and fiery dances. Parents listened to an interesting lecture about giraffes and together with young researchers tested their knowledge in a quiz.
Also, everyone present at the celebration had the opportunity to see with their own eyes how giraffes are fed in our zoo. And take photos near the bright thematic photo zone, which was created by the employees of Mykolaiv Zoo.
Stay with us, we are preparing many more interesting things for you!
